A place to display photos I've taken of wildlife of the animal kind.


Acronicta psi (Grey Dagger): a caterpillar in the garden.

Apus apus (Common swift): a tale of trying to attract them to the house.

Cambridge Swift Tower: built in 2011, and first occupied by swifts in 2014.

Deilephila elpenor (Elephant Hawk-moth): a caterpillar in the garden, kept until it pupated, and emerged the next year.

Dragonflies: in the garden, and elsewhere.

Erinaceus europaeus (Hedgehog): hedgehogs in the garden, and taken in for overwintering, with live video.

Frogspawn, toad, newts, etc.: inhabitants of the garden pond.

Natrix helvetica ssp. helvetica (Grass snake): a most-welcome garden visitor.

Parus caerulea (Blue tit): some garden birds in their nestbox.

Parus major (Great tit): some garden birds in their nestbox.

Sciurus carolinensis: grey squirrel and 'black' squirrel

Sphinx ligustri (Privet Hawk-moth): a caterpillar found nearby, kept until it pupated, and emerged the next year.

Sturnus vulgaris (Starling): Tame young starlings in the garden.

And Starling in the Cambridge Swift Tower.


Turdus merula (Blackbird): nesting in the climbing rose in the garden.
