Betula utilis var. jacquemontii Betula bark

Betula utilis var. jacquemontii, a white-barked birch.

As the bark of these trees peels away, it reveals inner layers which give the impression of having been coated in white paint. Young branches which have not yet peeled are just a normal brown colour.
