Schoolwork to be done

Schoolwork to be done Schoolwork to be done, near Llata, Huánuco.
Date: 2002 January 3

We take a road from the town of Llata, in the state of Huánuco, towards the Río Marañón.

The road comes to an end, so we have to descend 300 metres on foot to the river. At the village below, these children were doing their schoolwork. The girl was repeatedly writing "Mi pueblo está cerca." (My village is nearby), though I don't know whether she was practising handwriting, or Spanish (the local language is probably Quechua).
