One of the fascinating new discoveries of the 1990's from Mexico. As with other species, criminal illegal collectors immediately threatened to eliminate the species in its habitat. Turbinicarpus alonsoi

For this reason, I had no desire to possess one myself, but by 2004 it was so common in cultivation that I accepted a gift of this small seed-raised plant from a friend.
