Date: 2002 June 4

Pygmaeocereus are tiny plants, originating in Peru. P. bylesianus bears nocturnal flowers which open for just a single night. In common with some other night-flowering species, the flowers have a rather strange but not unpleasant scent, which would no doubt attract the pollinating insect.

The plant was grown from seed sown in 1996, and is just 5cm tall.
