Mammillaria haudeana

Mammillaria haudeana

For many years, this Mammillaria was distributed under Alfred Lau's memorable collection number, Lau 777, but was eventually given the name haudeana. I grafted this specimen as a small plant onto a Trichocereus stock, and although it is possible that it has grown roots of its own by now, its vigorous growth perhaps suggests that there are still Trichocereus roots down there. It has a reputation of being shy to flower, at least when on its own roots.
